What is Motor Silk™?

Motor Silk™ is the trademark name for a line of scientifically engineered lubrication products utilizing the Boron CLS Bond™ technology. Applications include all engines, transmissions, gears, fuel systems, greases, hydraulic systems and turbine fluids. There is a superior Motor Silk™ lubrication product for any application including all commercial and industrial applications.

 

 Is Motor Silk safe for my vehicle?

Motor Silk™ has been thoroughly tested for safety and effectiveness in numerous independent laboratory tests. Motor Silk™ was also road tested in over seven thousand vehicles during an eighteen month period. The test included new vehicles as well as older high mileage vehicles. The monitored results showed a reduction of component failure (engine and transmission) so impressive (85%) that an entire extended power train warranty program was developed with the Motor Silk™ superior lubrication protection as the foundation.

The extended power train warranty program (5 year / 100,000 miles) is available for nearly all new and used vehicles with up to 125,000 miles. A 3 year / 50,000 mile extended warranty is available for most vehicles with over 125,000 miles but less than 175,000

Which Motor Silk™ products and how much do I use for my vehicle?

For maximum performance, fuel savings and power train protection, we recommend the Automotive High Performance  (engine, transmission and fuel system treatments). These are listed on the order page as EAC-1, 2, 3, 4. The packages vary based on the type of transmission and fuel.

 

Engine

The same 16oz Motor Silk™ engine treatment product is used for both gas and diesel engines. You will require more than one 16oz bottle if your engine holds over 6 quarts of oil. Use one 16oz bottle of Motor Silk™ engine treatment for each 5 quarts of oil in the engine. Additional bottles are ordered individually.

 

 5 quart oil engines

The engine product is added to clean oil, at the oil change or shortly thereafter. Add the 16oz of Motor Silk™ engine treatment on top of the usual 5 quarts of oil. 5½ quarts of oil will not overfill the reservoir. Or, as an alternative, add 4½ quarts of oil and then add the 16oz of Motor Silk™ so as to not exceed the 5 quart specification.

 

6 quart oil engines

For engines with 6 quarts of oil, add 5 quarts of oil and 16oz of product for a total of 5½ quarts. Drive 500 to 1000 miles then add another ½ quart of motor oil for a total of 6 quarts. This method will allow you to treat a 6 quart engine with only one (1) bottle. An alternative method is to purchase 2 - 16 oz bottles of Motor Silk engine treatment and add 1 and 1/3rd bottle (19 oz) to 6 quarts of oil.

 

Over 6 quart oil engines

Engines with over 6 quarts of oil will require more than one bottle (16oz) of Motor Silk™ engine treatment. Add the product at a 1 to 10 dilution ratio. For example, if an engine holds 8 quarts (256 oz) of oil, add 1/10th  the volume of Motor Silk™ engine treatment (256/10= 25.6 oz), or approximately 1 and 2/3rd bottles of product.

Will adding Motor Silk™ void my Manufacturer’s Warranty?

In 1975 Congress enacted the federal Magnuson-Moss Act to regulate written consumer product warranties. In summary, manufacturers can not void a product warranty for using an alternative product if it meets or exceeds the established warranty service requirements. Motor Silk™ meets or exceeds all API service requirements as specified in the written product warranties. The safety and effectiveness of Motor Silk™ has been proven in numerous independent laboratory tests. Motor Silk™ was also road tested in over seven thousand vehicles during an eighteen month period.  Do I need to add Motor Silk™ again after an oil change?

Motor Silk™ is not a common oil additive which attempts to enhance or improve the performance of the oil. Oil additive products must be used often because there is no lasting or residual effect. Rather, Motor Silk™ is a permanently installed lubrication. One treatment of the Boron CLS Bond™ technology in Motor Silk™ will bond a permanent and self-replenishing solid lubricant directly on to the metal surfaces of the engine. Motor Silk is proven in independent laboratory tests to be the most effective anti-wear and anti-friction lubrication product available. One treatment will last the life of the vehicle.

Can I use Motor Silk™ with synthetic oil?

Motor Silk™ is compatible with all engine oils including synthetic oils.

However, because of the superior wear protection of Motor Silk™, synthetic oil is unnecessary. Motor Silk™ is 25 times slipperier than even the best synthetics.

 My mechanic advises against additives, should I use Motor Silk™?

Mechanics will often generalize on these topics with opinions formed over time from a broad base of information. If your mechanic has not taken the time to read and understand the Motor Silk™ Boron CLS Bond™ technology, he cannot offer an opinion on this product. Because the Motor Silk™ products are new to this level of the market and are very different in function, the chances are very good that your mechanic has never heard of Motor Silk™ and does not understand the technology. 

When should I add the Motor Silk™ products?

Engine – 16 oz treatment for 6 quarts oil or less

The 16 oz Motor Silk™ engine product is always added last to the fresh oil. The best time is at or shortly after an oil and filter change. The product goes to work immediately and will take between 500 to 1000 miles for the Boron CLS Bond™ technology to fully bond the solid lubricant on to the engine’s surfaces. After 3000 miles, or at your next scheduled oil service, change the oil and filter as usual. The Motor Silk™ product is not lost or drained out at the oil change. The technology has been permanently installed in the engine. One of the benefits of the superior lubrication of Motor Silk™ is the doubling of the oil change service interval. You can safely extend your oil change interval to 6000 miles.

 

12. What percentage fuel mileage gains will I realize with Motor Silk™?

Fuel efficiency gains will vary depending on the age and condition of the engine. All engines will benefit from an 80% reduction of friction between the moving parts. Older engines with wear will also benefit from an improvement in mechanical efficiency. This results from better compression (tighter fit) as the solid lubricant will fill in some of the excessive clearances caused by wear. In these cases, fuel efficiency gains could be as high as 20% or more. Newer engines treated with Motor Silk™ can expect between 5 to 10% better fuel mileage and more importantly will maintain a higher mechanical efficiency over hundreds of thousands of miles of driving due to the superior wear protection Motor Silk™ provides.

 

Note: To maximize fuel efficiency, it may be necessary to recalibrate the computerized fuel feed system if the vehicle’s engine is so equipped. These systems calculate and deliver the required amount of fuel based upon monitored conditions inside the engine. Once established however, the fuel feed settings may not automatically adjust to accommodate changing engine conditions. 

To clear the existing computer settings, disconnect the negative battery cable for ten (10) minutes. Upon re-starting the engine, the computer will recalibrate itself by measuring the new lower friction environment and adjusting the fuel flow accordingly. Perform this procedure only after the engine has been fully bonded with the Motor Silk™ solid lubricant.  Complete bonding will occur within 500 to 1000 miles of driving following adding the engine treatment.

Some vehicles will need to be driven 10-30 minutes while the computer relearns.

If you are uncertain whether your vehicle has this type of computerized fuel feed system, you may perform the procedure regardless as it will not cause any harm to do so.

Multiple factors contribute to affect fuel efficiency including climatic conditions, manufacturer’s fuel formulations, and operator or driver variables.

 

 

15. Why have I never heard of Motor Silk™?

Following the development of the Boron CLS Bond™ technology in 1991, Motor Silk™ was used exclusively by the U.S. Military and select Fortune 100 companies as a “special situations” or “extreme conditions” lubricant.

Motor Silk™ has only been available to lower tier commercial and industrial accounts and the retail consumer market for the past 2 years. Evergreen America Corporation, through radio and other marketing efforts, has spear headed the introduction of Motor Silk™ into these sectors.

 
How do I determine the correct amount of Motor Silk™ to order?

Motor Silk™ quantity calculation formula

It is simple to calculate the correct amount of Motor Silk™ to use for any application. Motor Silk™ is added at a 1 to 10 ratio to the fluid reservoir of the component to be treated. For example, if a gear box holds 5 gallons (640 ounces) of gear oil, add 1/10th or 64 ounces of Motor Silk™ gear treatment to the gear box.

This formula is used for all Motor Silk™ applications, with the exception of the consumer (non-commercial) transmission treatment and fuel treatment products.

What makes Motor Silk™ different from other engine oil additives?

Motor Silk™ with Boron CLS Bond™ is the most scientifically advanced lubrication technology in the world. It is not an oil additive product. Oil additives are added to oil in an attempt to improve the lubrication performance of the oil itself. The Boron CLS Bond™ technology does not attempt to condition the oil.

 

How does it work?

Motor Silk™ is the only product in the world that will bond a permanent and self-replenishing “solid lubricant” onto any metal surface. The near diamond hard solid lubricant coating is very durable and super slippery with a friction coefficient of less than 0.01%. This is twenty five times more slippery than synthetic oil. Consequently, friction inside the engine is reduced 80% and wear is reduced 90%. This frees up horsepower, saves fuel and engine wear. Engines and transmissions treated with Motor Silk™ will last 2 to 3 times longer and operate like new for hundreds of thousands of miles.

 

How does the LUBRISILK™ Aerosol spray work?

The Boron CLS Bond™ Technology in the LUBRISILK™ Aerosol spray bonds a near diamond hard solid lubricant on to any metal surface. An important and unique feature of the Boron CLS Bond™ technology is its ability to penetrate into the metal’s surface while forming the protective solid lubricant surface coating. During this process any rust on the surface of the treated metal is removed as Boric Oxide bonds with the metal surface. Boric Oxide is highly anticorrosive and will stop the formation of further oxidation or rust. Most other aerosol spray lubricant products on the market are water encapsulating and actually trap water on the metal surface. The result is accelerated oxidation (rust) and corrosion

 

 What will Motor Silk™ do for my Automatic transmission?

*Description:

Motor Silk™ Automatic Transmission Treatment is designed to extend the life and lower the operating temperature of your automatic transmission. It blends with your existing transmission fluid and contains boron-based components that protect vital working parts from friction and corrosive elements.

Motor Silk™ Automatic Transmission Treatment toughens rotating components, inhibits overheating, smoothes out clutch shudder, clears stuck valve bodies and locked governors, and improves shift patterns. The new surface also blocks oxygen to prevent corrosive activity. This micro-layer of protection is bonded to metal surfaces with strong covalent and ionic bonds. It provides durable, long-lasting wear surfaces.

Motor Silk™ Automatic Transmission Treatment can be used in any automatic transmission. A ten-ounce treatment will help any size transmission and may be added any time. (Ten ounces will “overfill” a normal unit.)

Motor Silk™ Gear Fluid Additive is designed for use in all manual transmissions, manual transaxles and final drives. Motor Silk™ Gear Fluid Additive contains enhanced esters and their derivatives and synthetic-base oils and a complete boron anti-wear formulation. It is designed to provide high-temperature stability to prevent coating of synchros and gears.
